RSO Highlight: Student Research Society

The Student Research Society (SRS) is a registered student organization formed to support current or aspiring researchers at the University of Chicago. This year is the 3rd for SRS, headed by Caroline Kellogg & Adam Kunz.

Though we’re highlighting the Student Research Society as a Biology adjacent RSO, they actually are open to students from any major who are interested in undergraduate research. Through informational events to increase awareness and preparedness for research positions alongside events to foster a community of undergraduate researchers, SRS is a great resource for all students who want to participate in research or are already part of a lab.

We sat down with Caroline, a 4th year Biology Major, to learn a bit more about SRS's current offerings and upcoming events. One of SRS's new programs is the Bronco STEM Mentorship Initiative, which is a mentorship program that pairs a highschooler with an undergraduate majoring in a STEM field like biology. This program aims to expose highschoolers to the various STEM majors available to them while preparing them to pursue these majors.

Caroline kept things simple to end our brief interview: “If you’re interested in research, this is a great place to start.”

Join their listserv today so you don’t miss their first Winter Quarter meeting and other events this year.
